The Climate

Labastide-Paumès is situated in about the same distance from the Atlantic ocean as the Mediterranean Sea.
To the west the climate is influenced by the Ocean resulting in much more rain and snow during the winters in the mountains. The red and flatter roofs change to steeper black stone roofs, which make it easy for the rain and snow to clear. At this time you also get strong westerly winds.

To the east the climate gets rapidly dry and very warm in the summer but colder in winter, but with a very strong wind, for about 60 days a year, the Tramontana.

Between these areas, with the mild influence of the ocean and agreeable temperatures in summer and winter, the eastern and western winds loose itself in the hills of the Comminges, there is our home, your holiday home: “Barès”.

Driving to Barès

Fastest way from the UK is by the channel ports or tunnel, Paris-Orleans-Limoges-Toulouse. A detailed route is available on request, even with the fast growing army of speed cameras pin pointed. The last part of the route you wil need our help surely.
